ABOUT Greg Burlison

Greg Burlison is a native of Centerville, TN, and a graduate of Hickman County High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Greg began practicing law in the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office. He returned to the middle Tennessee area in 2008 as an Assistant Public Defender for the 21st Judicial District and has practiced extensively in Hickman, Lewis, Perry, and Williamson Counties. Greg was appointed Public Defender for the 21st Judicial District by Governor Bill Lee in November 2020. He was elected Public Defender in 2022, the same year that Williamson County became a single county judicial district. Greg is currently a member of the 21st Recovery Court administrative team and previously served two terms as a Hearing Committee Member for the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee (2016-2022). Greg is a graduate of the Tennessee Criminal Defense College and the National Criminal Defense College. He is a member of the Williamson County Bar Association, the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL), the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), and the National Association for Public Defense (NAPD). Greg has previously received the President’s Award, presented by the Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference, as well as the Friend of the 21st Recovery Court award. He lives in Fairview with his wife Sara and two sons and is an avid runner and golfer.
